(an introduction)
In the spring of 1974, a new Canadian magazine made its debut The Canadian
Log House. Published by Mary Mackie (wife of B. Allan Mackie who had already
published his seminal volume "Building with Logs"), CLH quickly became a
touchstone to thousands of people worldwide.
Sadly, only 8 volumes of CLH were printed. And although, 17 years later, many of the articles in CLH appear dated, there remains a tremendous amount
of high quality information contained in them that is very useful to todayıs log home owners and builders.
In 1997, he moved to Ontario and began
building a log home for himself. All the while, Mr. Mackie has not turned
his back on teaching as he continues to watch over schools wearing his name
located in Japan, Korea, Germany and British Columbia.
This month, with a tremendous thank you to B. Allan Mackie (and to Mary Mackie for all her publishing efforts over the years), we begin our series of re-prints from The Canadian Log House.
